8-arm-PLGA-OH, MW 10K is an eight-arm star-shaped biodegradable polyester terminated with hydroxyl groups. Synthesized starting from a central polyol core, the multi-branched architecture provides multiple terminal hydroxyl sites compared with linear PLGA. The polymer features outstanding biocompatibility and tunable degradation kinetics. Terminal hydroxyl (-OH) groups can serve as reactive initiation sites for further chemical modification, such as esterification, ring-opening polymerization and functional group derivatization. It is widely used as a precursor for synthesizing functionalized PLGA derivatives, nanoparticle fabrication, hydrogel preparation and biodegradable carrier material research.
