The Azide-PEG-Ma  group can react with alkyne, BCN, DBCO via Click Chemistry to yield a stable triazole linkage. The maleimide group reacts specifically with a thiol group to form a covalent C-S bond, enabling the bioconjugation with a thiol bearing molecules. The PEG spacer increase the solubility of the resulting complex in aqueous media.
