Thiol‑Poly(ε‑caprolactone) (PCL‑SH, MW 10K) is monothiol‑terminated high‑molecular‑weight biodegradable poly(ε‑caprolactone). Compared with 2K, 3K and 5K PCL‑SH, this 10 kDa variant possesses the highest hydrophobicity and crystallinity, accompanied by much slower hydrolytic degradation rate. The terminal reactive thiol (-SH) supports thiol‑maleimide click reaction, disulfide exchange and covalent immobilization on gold‑containing substrates. It is suitable for fabricating stable hydrophobic core‑structured micelles, nanoparticles and bulk degradable biomaterials, widely applied in long‑term drug delivery and tissue‑engineering research.
Key Features
- MW: 10000 Da, single‑end thiol functionalized poly(ε‑caprolactone)
- Highest hydrophobicity and crystallinity among 2K/3K/5K/10K PCL‑SH series
- Excellent biocompatibility, greatly retarded hydrolysis degradation rate
- Terminal thiol group for maleimide bioconjugation and gold‑surface anchoring
- Narrow polydispersity index, consistent batch‑to‑batch performance
- Soluble in DCM, CHCl₃, THF; insoluble in water
Applications
- Preparation of highly stable PCL‑based micelles and nanoparticles for long‑circulating hydrophobic drug delivery
- Bioconjugation with maleimide‑functionalized peptides, proteins and targeting moieties
- Surface functionalization of gold nanoparticles and gold‑coated biomaterial substrates
- Synthesis of redox‑responsive disulfide‑crosslinked polymer‑drug conjugates
- Fabrication and surface modification of long‑term degradable tissue‑engineering scaffolds
Handling & Storage
- Store at −20 °C under inert nitrogen or argon atmosphere
- Keep dry, avoid moisture and repeated freeze‑thaw cycles
- Thiol groups are sensitive to oxidation; minimize exposure to ambient air
- For research use only, not for clinical or diagnostic purposes
