8-Arm PLGA-SH, MW 20K is an eight-arm star-shaped biodegradable polyester functionalized with thiol groups at each arm terminus. Constructed on a central polyol core, the multi-branched structure offers higher density of reactive thiol groups compared with linear PLGA. The polymer displays excellent biocompatibility and tunable degradation kinetics. Terminal thiol (-SH) moieties can undergo thiol-maleimide click reactions, thiol-ene crosslinking and disulfide bond formation, supporting efficient conjugation with maleimide-labeled biomolecules, gold nanoparticles and other thiol-reactive materials. It is extensively utilized in nanoparticle synthesis, bioligand modification, crosslinkable hydrogel fabrication and redox-responsive drug delivery research.
