Polymer Composition: 8-Arm Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-Maleimide

8-Arm PLGA-Mal, MW 40K is a high-molecular-weight eight-arm star-shaped biodegradable polyester with maleimide moieties at each arm terminus. Built around a central polyol core, this multi-branched scaffold offers a higher density of reactive functional sites than linear PLGA. The polymer possesses favorable biocompatibility and adjustable degradation profiles. Terminal maleimide groups enable highly selective thiol-maleimide click chemistry under mild aqueous conditions, allowing efficient conjugation with cysteine-containing peptides, proteins and thiol-modified biomolecules. It is widely applied in long-acting targeted nanoparticle preparation, bioligand immobilization, stimuli-responsive sustained drug delivery and advanced biomaterial surface engineering research.
