Photo reactive probes are widely used in Photoaffinity labeling. A technique used to attach labels to the active site of a large molecule, such as protein. They are extremely useful in receptor identification application. The probe has an inactive site that can be converted into a highly reactive form through photolysis. The activated label then bind permanently to the large molecule via a covalent bond. Commonly used photo crosslinkers include benzophenone (BP), aryl azide (AA), and diazirine (DA).
