Sulfo-Cy3 NHS Ester – Water-Soluble Fluorescent Dye
Sulfo-Cy3 NHS Ester is a bright, highly water-soluble orange fluorescent dye. It remains stable from pH 4 to pH 10, which helps provide consistent signals in many biological applications.
Researchers can use Sulfo-Cy3 to label antibodies, peptides, proteins, and other biomolecules. The dye works well with 532 nm and 555 nm laser lines. Standard TRITC filter sets can detect Sulfo-Cy3 fluorescence.
Sulfo-Cy3 conjugates often produce less background than TAMRA and many other common fluorescent dyes.

The NHS ester group reacts with primary amines. These amines occur on lysine residues in proteins and on many modified biomolecules. Researchers commonly use NHS esters to label proteins, antibodies, peptides, and amine-modified oligonucleotides.
Sulfo-Cy3 can self-quench at high dye-to-protein ratios. For this reason, it works best for moderate- to high-abundance targets.
For low-abundance targets, consider APDye 555 NHS Ester (Alexa Fluor® 555 analog). APDye 555 supports higher labeling ratios with less self-quenching. This can produce brighter conjugates and improve detection sensitivity.
