PEI-PEG-PEI (MW: PEI 2k, PEG 2k)
A linear, amphiphilic triblock copolymer: PEI(2k)-b-PEG(2k)-b-PEI(2k).
- Structure: Central hydrophilic PEG block (2 kDa) flanked by two cationic linear polyethylenimine (PEI) blocks (each 2 kDa).
- Key Properties: Combines PEG’s water solubility, stealth effect, and biocompatibility with PEI’s high cationic charge density and proton-sponge effect.
- Main Use: A versatile non-viral vector for gene delivery (DNA/siRNA), forming stable polyplexes with improved circulation time and reduced cytotoxicity compared to unmodified PEI.
