Cy3 NHS Ester (CAS 1032678-38-8)
Cy3 NHS Ester, also known as Sulfo-Cyanine3 NHS ester, is a bright, water-soluble orange fluorescent dye that remains stable across pH 4 to pH 10. With efficient amine reactivity, it easily labels proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides. Cy3 conjugates, excitable at 532 nm or 555 nm, work well with TRITC filter sets and offer lower background than TAMRA and many other dyes.
Key Features:
- Formula: C₃₄H₄₀ClN₃O₄
- Weight: 590.15 g/mol
- Excitation/Emission Maxima: 550/570 nm
- Solubility: Water-soluble, also in DMSO and DMF
- pH Stability: Insensitive from pH 4 to pH 10
Applications:
- Protein and Antibody Labeling: Efficiently tags lysine residues for moderate-to-high abundance targets in assays.
- Nucleic Acid Labeling: Binds amine-modified oligonucleotides for hybridization and diagnostics.
- Cellular Imaging and Flow Cytometry: Ideal for targeting cellular components with low background fluorescence.
Recommendation: For low-abundance targets, APDye 555 NHS Ester offers brighter labeling with reduced self-quenching, ideal when high molar ratios are needed.
Handling and Storage: Store at -20°C, protected from light. Use PPE and handle carefully to avoid contact.
