Cbz-N-Amido-PEG8-CH2COOH contains a Cbz protected amine and a carboxylic acid group. The acid can be used to conjugate with amine-bearing biomolecules such as lysine residue on the proteins and amine modified oligonucleotide and biopolymers. The removal of Cbz group by hydrogenation affords a free amino group, which can be conjugated with biomolecules containing carboxylic acid or its activated ester groups. The PEG spacer increase the solubility of the resulting complex in aqueous media.
