β‑Benzyl L‑Aspartic Acid N‑Carboxyanhydride (BLA‑NCA, CAS 13590‑42‑6) is a chiral N‑carboxyanhydride (NCA) monomer with formula C₁₂H₁₁NO₅ (MW 249.22). It undergoes ring‑opening polymerization (ROP) to form poly(β‑benzyl L‑aspartate) (PBLA), a biodegradable polyester with pendant benzyl‑protected carboxyl groups. Used in polypeptide synthesis, drug delivery systems, and biomaterial development. White crystalline solid, soluble in organic solvents, stored at −20 °C under inert gas.
