Polymer Composition: 8-Arm Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-Maleimide

8-Arm PLGA-Mal, MW 10K is an eight-arm star-shaped biodegradable polyester with maleimide groups functionalized at each arm terminus. Centered on a polyol core, the multi-arm architecture provides higher reactive group density relative to linear PLGA. The polymer features good biocompatibility and controllable degradation behavior. Terminal maleimide groups undergo highly selective thiol-maleimide click conjugation under mild aqueous conditions, enabling efficient coupling with cysteine-containing peptides, proteins and thiolated biomolecules. It is widely used for targeted nanoparticle preparation, bioligand modification, stimuli-responsive drug delivery and biomaterial surface engineering.
