Maleimide PEG Acetic Acid (MAL-PEG-COOH) is a linear heterobifunctional PEG reagent containing maleimide and carboxylic acid. It is often used as a crosslinker or as a spacer between two different chemical entities. Maleimides react with thiol, SH, sulfhydryl or sulfhydryl groups, and carboxyl groups can react with amine or hydroxyl groups under standard acid/amine or acid/alcohol coupling conditions. Maleimides contain reactive C=C double bonds and are sensitive to light or oxygen. Applied in medical research, drug release, nanotechnology and new material research, cell culture. Active compounds in research ligands, peptide synthesis support, grafted polymer compounds, new materials and polyethylene glycol modified functional coatings.
