CM-PEG-CM (Carboxymethyl-PEG-Carboxymethyl) is a homobifunctional PEG with a carboxymethyl group on each side, and the carboxyl group reacts with the amino group to modify the molecule. PEG acids can be used to react with amine groups with peptide coupling reagents such as NHS and DCC, EDC. Conjugation with homobifunctional PEG ensures increased drug loading compared to PEGylation using linear PEG.
