As a member of the triazolodiazepine family (+)JQ1, it is a potent, specific and reversible pan-BET (bromodomain and exoterminal motif) family inhibitor. (+)-JQ1 may serve as a useful chemical probe to study the role of the BET bromodomain in the transcriptional regulation of tumorigenesis. (+)-JQ1 binds to BRD4 bromodomains 1 and 2 with Kd values of approximately 50 and 90 nM, respectively. This binding competes with acetyllysine.
