DODAP lipid (18:1) CAS:127512-29-2 is an ionizable cationic lipid with low cytotoxicity and high transfection efficiency. It appears neutral at physiological pH, but once the pH falls below its pKa (<7), the protonation of the free amine acquires a positive charge in the endosome. A common area of application for DODAP (18:1) lipid is ionizable lipid components in nanomedicine as nanocarriers (lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles, LPNs), which are widely used to encapsulate bioactive molecules, including mRNA , siRNA and plasmid DNA to treat disease.
