DiA
CAS Number: 114041-00-8
Molecular Formula: C18H26N2O2
Overview:
DiA is a dialkylaminostyryl dye that fluoresces when it inserts into cell membranes or dilutes in organic solvents. It has an excitation max of 492 nm and an emission max of 607 nm. Thanks to its broad emission spectrum, DiA can be detected in the green, orange, or red channels, depending on the filter used.
DiA works well as both an anterograde and retrograde neuronal tracer in living and fixed tissues. It diffuses along the plasma membrane, effectively labeling neurons. In intact tissue, DiA stays confined to labeled cells; however, membrane disruption, such as during tissue sectioning, may cause some transfer. Researchers often pair DiA with DiI for dual-color neuronal tracing, which enhances the detail of their studies.
Applications:
- Neuronal tracing: Labels neurons in live and fixed tissues with both anterograde and retrograde tracking.
- Membrane staining: Marks cell membranes for structural analysis.
- Dual-color studies: Complements DiI for effective multi-color imaging.
Benefits:
- Broad fluorescence spectrum, visible in multiple channels.
- Strong and uniform membrane labeling for clear neuronal tracking.
- Works well for long-term studies and multi-color experiments.
Storage:
Store at -20°C, away from light and moisture.
