Propargyl-PEG6-thiol contains a propargyl group and thiol group. Both propargyl group and thiol group have been widely used in bioconjugations. The propargyl group readily react with azide-bearing biomolecules via copper catalyzed Click Chemistry. The thiol group reacts easily with maleimide, OPSS, vinylsulfone and form a stable carbon sulfide bond. It can also react with metal surfaces including gold, silver, etc, which makes the thiol bearing linker perfect surface modification reagent. The increasing aqueous solubility derived from the PEG spacer further expand its application in bioconjugations and surfaces science.
