APDye 488 cadaverine is a carbonyl-reactive building block used to modify carboxyl groups through stable amide linkages in the presence of activators such as EDC or DCC or activated esters such as NHS esters. It can also be used as a polar tracer and a reactive dye for labeling proteins via carboxylic acid moieties.
APDye 488 is a water-soluble, bright green fluorescent dye whose excitation is well suited for the 488 nm laser line. Its green fluorescence is pH independent in the pH 4 to pH 10 range. APDye 488 binds to a variety of antibodies, peptides, proteins, tracers, and amplification substrates commonly used to generate stable signals in imaging and flow cytometry.
APDye 488 cadaverine is structurally identical to Alexa Fluor® 488 cadaverine. Its absorption/emission spectrum perfectly matches those of many other fluorochromes based on the sulforhodamine 110 core, including CF®488 Dye, DyLight®
