1,2-Dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) CAS:18194-24-6, a phospholipid compound with two 14-carbon fatty acids called myristic acid (14:0) and a phosphate head linked by a glycerol molecule. Belongs to the phosphatidylcholine (PC) family. It consists of a saturated symmetrical phospholipid containing 14 carbon atoms. DMPCs are zwitterionic glycerophosphates associated with mammalian membranes. The molecule can self-assemble in water to form a lipid bilayer, with the hydrophobic tail facing the inner region and the hydrophilic head facing outward, to interact with water. The compound can be used to prepare nanoparticles or liposomes for drug nanocarriers to deliver therapeutics such as mRNA/DNA vaccines.
